UX DESIGN/MOBILE APP DESIGN
Flux Finance’s mission is to make the topic of money fun and accessible for young Australians. The Flux App is aimed to help young people understand money and make great financial decisions in an easy and entertaining way.
The team at Flux approached Mindly to help them design a weekly savings game that incentivises young Australians to create positive financial habits and behaviour around money.
Discovery
With the Flux team, we performed an in-depth discovery workshop where we began learning about their vision and business objectives and their users’ wants, needs, challenges, feelings and behaviour around personal finance.
Concept
The concept was to incentivise users to save money through a gamified experience. Once linking their savings account to the Flux App, users would be able to win up to $250,000 in prizes every week if they entered the game by saving at least $25 and entering a unique code. We helped Flux turn this idea into a digital product strategy.
Low-Fidelity Design
We worked in an agile development process with Flux and began designing low-fidelity prototypes to first establish Information Architecture, User Flows and Layout for the money-saving game.
High-Fidelity Design Sprints
With a foundational low-fidelity design, we moved onto producing high-fidelity prototypes that would look and feel like the final product. These prototypes were tested and rapidly iterated to ensure we’re building the solution right. Each iteration was analysed and tested for intuitiveness, easy of use and delightful user experience.
MVP Design & Launch
After the series of high-fidelity design sprints, we came to the MVP stage with confidence. We worked closely with the Flux development team to ensure the design is light and scalable. This stage saw the product launch to market.
Iteration
After launch, we collected user feedback on the MVP. We went through a series of sprints to first address critical issues and attain quick wins. Over the course of a couple of months, we continued improving the product through sprints and released exciting new features and improvements to the user experience.
Within the first few weeks of launching the game, it became a hit. The game has helped Flux rapidly grow their user base and is regularly played by 10s of 1000s of Australians weekly. By turning the idea of saving money into a fun and exciting experience, the game has been successful at incentivising users to save money regularly, contributing to Flux’s overall mission to make the topic of money fun and accessible.
Saving money can be hard, especially for young Australians. Feedback from users shows that the product has been successful in helping them create positive habits and behaviour around money and personal finance. Although the minimum saving amount is $25, the game has shown that users are saving on average 4-5x more than that every week.
"Mindly Studio has gone above and beyond to help deliver an outstanding user experience, slick designs and engaging gamification features for the Flux app. And most importantly, they are good people who are great at their job and a pleasure to work with!"
